Machrie Fat-Biking Taster & Beach Brew

An adventure on two wheels. Enjoy a one hour taster session on the Fat Bikes with Kayak Wild Islay. Set off from the Machrie Hotel and bike along Islay's longest beach The Big Strand, before stopping for a brew with Argyll Coffee Roasters coffee and a hearty snack. Min age 11. A great experince and why not pair it with trying out the special local produce menu at 18 Bar & Restaurant at the Machrie Hotel.

1 hour Special Tour. Alicia, Claire & Georgina will be guiding visitors through the experience of making gin at the Lussa Gin Distillery. Alongside a taster of Lussa Gin, there will be juniper influenced appetizers which have been locally sourced and prepared, including venison and shellfish.

Introduction to Chocolate and Chocolate Making

Saturday 21st September

10am and 2pm

Islay High School, Bowmore

A chance to discover chocolate and make your own chocolate truffles. This 2 hour session will cover a brief history of chocolate including a demonstration of making chocolate from the raw ingredients. A tasting of different chocolates from around the world. Practical hands activity to make 20 chocolate truffles and real hot chocolate. Min age 10 must be accompanied by an adult.


Islay Seafood Special with Islay Sea Adventures

A unique chance to enjoy the scenery and wildlife from the sea whilst sampling some of the best local produce available. 

Scallops are the star of the show and will always be available with other sea-food subject to availability and wherever possible we will give guests the opportunity to try and catch a fish for the BBQ.


Laphroaig Food Pairing Tasting

Laphroaig Distillery will be working closely with local businesses & chefs to source local produce which complements their whiskies.  A member of the team will talk you through 4 drams of Laphroaig from the core range which will be paired with some delicious savoury & sweet appetizers.

A Celebration of Seaweed

10am - 2pm Sunday 22nd 

Islay Nature Centre, Port Charlotte

Discover the bounty on our local shores where a wide variety of seaweeds and kelps grow in abundance. Learn about the different seaweeds that can be
found around the coastline of Islay and Jura, hear tips and advice on how to forage for seaweed safely and sustainably.
A session will run from 11- 12 where we will prepare and cook a few seaweeds giving you the chance to taste some for yourselves to inspire you to go away and start experimenting.

Bowmore Whisky and Chocolate Tasting Tour

2.30pm  20th - 22nd September 2019

Bowmore Distillery have teamed up with the chocolatiers at the Oban Chocolate Company to present to you a 1.5hr distillery tour with a chocolatey twist. Join a Bowmore guide for a tour of the distillery followed by a pairing of some of the finest Single Malt whiskies alongside some delicious handmade chocolates.

The Botanist Foraging Walk

Bridgend, Islay

Join The Botanist Gin’s professional forager, James Donaldson for an unforgettable walk through Bridgend woods. James will be pointing out some wild edibles on your doorstep, and the ones to avoid! The foraging walk will start at Bridgend woods car park on the road to Islay House Square and will end in the community gardens with a Botanist and tonic.
